Raven's Wood is the culmination of a life's dream for it's
owner, a Michigan native and retired United States Air Force noncommissioned officer. Tom's career took him
from walking around alert B-52 aircraft in northern Michigan to participating as a member, and later leader, of hostage rescue
teams and eventually performing First Sergeant duty overseas and in the USA. Tom's civilian career has taken him
from corporate security executive protection planning to project management consulation here at home. He's seen
how challenging team building enhances the corporate environment from the executive level to the team member.
After
retiring from active service, Tom and his family moved to Idaho for five years and enjoyed the mountains and wilderness of
that beautiful state. Tom moved back to Michigan in late 2000 reuniting with his high school sweetheart, Susan; they
married and soon bought Raven's Wood. Susan, after watching Tom in the woods and seeing him teach others primitive
adapation skills, urged him to share his skills and experience with anyone who wanted to have what she called, "an
adventure".
So, here we are! 2008 is the first year Raven's Wood will be open for "adventures",
and as time goes on, more classes and opportunities will be available.
Raven's Wood staff members are under
Tom's direction and are experienced woodsmen.
